The first 81 apartments in the renovated Cleveland Avenue Homes should be ready for occupancy by the spring. When complete, all 244 units in Cleveland Avenue will be torn down and replaced by 406 units of mixed-income housing.

The Choice Neighborhood grant gave Winston-Salem $30 million toward a neighborhood upgrade, but inflation could threaten the project's completion.
