Saco woman killed by dump truck while crossing street
A Saco woman died Wednesday afternoon after being struck by a dump truck, according to police.
Police and firefighters responded to reports of a motor vehicle vs. pedestrian accident on Water Street near the intersection of Main Street at about 4:42 p.m.
“Upon arrival officers found that a pedestrian had been struck by a dump truck,” Deputy Police Chief Corey Huntress said in a statement. “Saco Fire Department personnel attempted to provide life-saving measures and were unsuccessful where the pedestrian succumbed to their injuries.”
Police identified the pedestrian as Kimberley Lavin, 56, of Saco.
Police said the dump truck, driven by Rocky Irish, 59, of Biddeford, was making a left turn from Main Street onto Water Street when it struck Lavin, who was crossing the street.
Police said Saco Police and Maine State Police are investigating the incident.
